Dogs have their day in Ipswich
16.05.2005

By Carmen Greive

IT was all about the dogs yesterday at Ipswich's Million Paws Walk.

Whether they were short and stout, lean or sporting a shag pile hair cut, canines ruled the roost.

A frisbee-catching dog troupe, K9 Flyers, took the gong for best entertainment.

Run by husband and wife team Karen and Damian Noud and starring their three border collies, the Flyers have been performing for two years since the couple returned from a stint in the United States.

"K9 frisbee is a really big sport in the US, Europe and Japan and we’re trying to introduce it to Australia," Mrs Noud said.

"Basically it's taking what dogs do naturally — running, jumping and catching things — and turning it into a fun game."

The Noud's spend about 30 minutes a day training the dogs. For details on their training clinics log on to www.bark.asn.au
